Certainly there is a commercial aspect to the the Christmas season, however, that should not be the most important part of the Holidays. Presents are nice and can be given as a token of affection, to underscore the most important message. I guess the most important would be spending time with those important and close to us such as family and friends. Presents are okay because they demonstrate that someone took the time to get you something that you would like which is always cool.
Just remember that Holidays are to remind us of how great our family friends and downtime are :)
